In addition to receiving the lump sum, Shelton will remain on paid leave with the district until his resignation takes effect on March 13. He was put on paid administrative leave on Sept. 25.

After suspending Superintendent Patrick Shelton, the Edwardsville District 7 Board of Education said in a statement that it was confident in acting Superintendent Allen Duncan's ability to lead the district.
