Laclede customers might get some relief

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Laclede Gas customers could soon see their bills go down slightly.

The utility asked state regulators' permission Thursday to lower its natural gas rates by 7%, starting in two weeks.

The decrease would save a typical customer about $19 a month for the rest of the winter season.

Laclede raised rates by about 46% in November, but now says the decrease is possible because of actual and expected declines in wholesale gas prices.

Laclede serves more than 630,000 natural gas customers in St. Louis and surrounding counties of eastern Missouri.
