Right in the Eye - Georges Melies’ live movie-concert

Right in the Eye - Georges Melies’ live movie-concert

Right in the Eye is a one-of-a-kind multimedia performance that brings the whimsical world of early cinema pioneer Georges Méliès (1861–1938) to life. Conceived by Jean-François Alcoléa, the show features 12 of Méliès’ groundbreaking silent films accompanied by a dazzling live score performed by three virtuoso musicians. Using more than 50 instruments—from piano, guitar, and percussion to theremin, aquaphone, music boxes, and even everyday objects like stemware and plastic lids—they create an imaginative soundscape that mirrors Méliès’ own spirit of invention. Blending concert, cinema, and theatrical magic, this playful and immersive experience captures the humor, wonder, and fantasy of early film while delighting audiences of all ages. Recommended for ages 5+.

“We are living in the movie world created by George Méliès more than a century ago, smug in the illusion that we are experiencing the very latest thing.” – The New York Times
