Beacon's Bob Duffy honored for excellence

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, Jan. 13, 2010 - The Missouri Professional Communicators has chosen Beacon Associate Editor Robert W. Duffy to receive one of nine Quest awards this year. The awards, established in honor of the late Virginia Betts White, honor those "whose work reflects an enduring quest for the highest standards of professional ethics and excellence."

Beacon readers regularly see how Bob's reporting brings context and depth to coverage of many subjects, especially development and the arts. What you don't see are the many ways he works behind the scenes to promote excellence in all facets of the Beacon. We're pleased that he'll be publicly honored for his fine work.

Other honorees are John Beck, senior vice president and general manager, Emmis-St. Louis; Jeannette Batz Cooperman, St. Louis Magazine;  Susan Killenberg McGinn, Communications, Washington University; Carolyn Marty, Managing Editor Mid-Metro Suburban Journals; Patrick Murphy, producer, KETC-TV;  Alvin Reid, St. Louis Argus, St. Louis Globe-Democrat, “Donnybrook”;  Leisa Zigman, reporter, KSDK-TV.  In addition, a special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Ava Ehrlich, executive producer/special projects at KSDK-TV.
