U.S. Attorney Sayler Fleming was appointed to head the Eastern District of Missouri office based in St. Louis under the first administration of President Donald Trump.

Five officers were injured in all, including two who were treated and released at a local hospital for wounds they received in a scuffle with alleged criminal. Three others officers were hit by gun fire.

Dana Howard, a state champion at East St. Louis High School and an All-American linebacker at the University of Illinois before being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and playing for the St. Louis Rams, was named in the indictment along with two others.
