Francis Howell school board approves modified Black history and literature curricula
The Francis Howell School Board approved new curricula for its Black history and literature classes Thursday. It comes after the board voted to pull the classes last December, objecting to Southern Poverty Law Center social justice standards in the courses.
Damon Davis teams with Alarm Will Sound for a space opera rooted in Black music
St. Louis-based artist Damon Davis worked with the experimental classical ensemble Alarm Will Sound to create “Ligeia Mare,” an opera based in Black musical forms. They’ll perform a 20-minute excerpt tonight in a program that also includes new music by seven other composers.
