ST. LOUIS – Missouri Senator Kit Bond said the Department of Homeland Security's new airport screening procedure is another in a long line of government intrusions.

Fliers now have the option between full-body image detectors or probing pat-downs. Bond says it's critical that the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, be allowed to thoroughly inspect airline passengers but there has to be a balance between privacy and security.

"We're hearing from lots of folks back home who really are concerned about it so we're going to share those comments," Bond said, "And we hope, as I said, we hope that they can find a middle ground."

Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri said that the new screening techniques may be uncomfortable but she hopes the majority of Americans will support the effort once they understand the risks the country faces.
