St. Louis – The morning shift at Chrysler's Fenton North plant in suburban St. Louis was canceled Friday after a train derailed there late Thursday.
St. Louis County police say several cars loaded with sheet metal came off the tracks at a loading dock
The accident sent about 900 second shift workers home early.
Chrysler expects to have things up and running at the Dodge truck plant in time for the second shift Friday.
There was major damage at the plant, but no injuries.
As part of a restructuring plan, Chrysler will eliminate one of the shifts at the Fenton North plant in September.
The company is also planning to shut down the Fenton South minivan plant in October.
