St. Louis, MO – Workers are pouring concrete today to repair the overpass that partially collapsed onto Interstate 55 in south St. Louis earlier this month.
A 70-foot-long section of the walkway of the Delor overpass fell onto the roadway March first, injuring one person.
MO-DOT determined that decades worth of salt build-up had eroded the thin metal supports holding up the walkway. Routine inspections failed to identify the problem.
Emergency repairs on 54 other bridges in St. Louis that are the same design are also under way.
The Delor overpass is expected to remain closed to traffic for about two more weeks.
