St. Louis, MO. – The firm that's in charge of the reconstruction of Interstate 64 in St. Louis is releasing more details about the project.
Gateway Constructors say the first phase of the $535-million project will begin next month with the demolition of several houses in Sheridan Hills, at the northeast corner of I-64 and I-170.
Then, the rebuilding of the I-170/I-64 interchange begins in earnest in March, with three lanes of I-170 reduced to two in each direction between I-64 and the Galleria Parkway.
Also in March, ramps on the south side of the Galleria Parkway and ramps from Hanley Road to westbound I-64 will be closed.
April will see work starting on the Kingshighway intersection.
The entire project is expected to be completed by 2010.
