Jefferson City, MO – New estimates show much of Missouri will need one or two months of higher than average rainfall to escape from drought, and it doesn't look like that will happen.
The state's Drought Assessment Committee met Wednesday and heard about various problems caused by drought. That includes withering crops, high hay prices, and hampered river navigation.
The state has four rankings of drought and the newest map has 37 counties ranking in the worst of the four; that's 16 more than last month.
