St. Charles Community College bans smoking

By AP/KWMU

Cottleville, MO – Smoking will be completely banned at St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, starting next year.

The college's board of trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt the ban. Some smokers aren't happy, though, calling the policy too far-reaching.

Tobacco use will be completely prohibited on the 235-acre campus in Cottleville, though the policy will not be enforced inside private cars.

No specific fine has been established, and the college says only repeat offenders will be subject to punishment.

Two other Missouri colleges have also banned smoking. Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield was the first, and State Fair Community College in central Missouri banned tobacco as of June first.
