St. Louis, MO – Some workers left their jobs at the downtown May Company offices for the last time on Tuesday.
Federated Department Stores bought St. Louis-based May Company last year, but put off any layoffs until March. At least 500 people are being laid off from May Company's now former St. Louis headquarters during the transition.
The start of March also means the Famous-Barr name is in its final days. Federated plans to make the stores into Macy's.
