St. Louis, MO – A St. Louis police officer was hospitalized Thursday night after being shot, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening; police say body armor is a big reason for that.
A suspect, meanwhile, was shot dead.
Police say they went to a home on Redd Foxx Lane last night to serve a warrant. A man living in the house was on probation for a federal weapons charge, and police said they had information that the suspect had guns in the house.
As they approached, though, shots were fired through the door at officers, with one bullet hitting the officer in the arm. His body armor stopped a bullet that would have hit his stomach.
The officers returned fire and killed the suspect.
Names of the suspect and the wounded officer were not released. The officer was hospitalized, but the wound was not considered life-threatening.
