Jefferson City, Mo. – A death row inmate from the St. Louis area who won his fight to have DNA evidence retested using new technology will have to keep waiting for proof of his guilt or innocence.
Brian Kinder has maintained his innocence in the 1990 beating death of his estranged wife, Cynthia Williams. But at Kinder's trial, an expert testified that there was only a one-in-8.9 million chance that semen from the victim belonged to anyone but Kinder.
The new test results revealed yesterday in a Cole County courtroom were inconclusive because there was not enough DNA for the test.
Kinder's attorney said a judge must now decide whether to order an even more sophisticated test or repeat the old test if more DNA can be found.
