Chicago, Ill. – The Chicago Sun-Times reports this morning (Monday) that former Illinois Governor George Ryan is not being charged legal fees for his defense.
Ryan is currently on trial in Chicago, facing corruption-related charges.
About a dozen lawyers from the prominent firm of Winston & Strawn are working for Ryan. The firm's chairman is another former Governor: Jim Thompson.
Thompson says Winston & Strawn would be lucky if it only loses $10 million in fees because of the trial, which is expected to run into the new year.
