St. Louis – One man was in critical condition Wednesday after an Amtrak train collided with his tractor-trailer at a crossing in south St. Louis.
The incident happened around 8 o'clock Wednesday morning near Manchester Avenue west of Kingshighway.
The driver sustained severe burns when the cab of his truck caught fire. St. Louis Fire Department spokeswoman Kim Bacon says six people on the train sustained minor injuries.
Bacon says the fire department assisted in cleaning up some diesel fuel that had spilled out of the truck after the impact.
Amtrak officials say normal train service should resume tomorrow.
The Union Pacific Railroad is investigating.
