Jefferson City, MO. – Missoui Governor Matt Blunt has appointed a 20-member panel to recommend ways to restructure state government.

Most of the members are also Republican contributors.

Blunt says his new Government Reform Commission will hold its first meeting next Tuesday, and will have one year to finish its work.

He says the commission is intended to be nonpartisan.

But the appointees and their spouses contributed about $50,000 collectively to Blunt and other Republican candidates for statewide office last year.

Their collective donations to Democrats came to less than $2,000.

Those figures do not take into account additional money given to political parties or candidates for federal or local office or the state Legislature.
