Meat Tampering Investigated in St. Peters

By AP/KWMU

St. Peters, MO – Officials in St. Peters are investigating a possible case of meat tampering. A supermarket in the St. Louis suburb has found two packages of ground beef with foreign objects in them this month.

There haven't been any reports of illnesses related to the tampering. Officials say they're notifying the public as a precaution.

One object was found December 8th; the other surfaced last Saturday. Authorities were apprised Wednesday of the questioned packages. Preliminary testing failed to identify the objects. More testing is being done.
