St. Louis, MO – There will be a funeral Tuesday in St. Louis for baseball player "Bubba" Hyde. He played for 23 years in the Negro Leagues and died last week at the age of 95. He is in the Negro Leagues Wall of Fame in Milwaukee.

His given name was Cowan Hyde; he played for more than a dozen teams. Much of it was at a time when racism kept black players from being allowed on white professional teams.

His daughter, Almerth Owens-Long, said her dad's uniform is also on display at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.

Hyde began his career as an outfielder for the Memphis Red Sox. He made the Negro League East-West All-Star team twice, in 1943 and 1946.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Cote Brilliante Church of God, near the Delmar Loop.
