Slay, Dooley join area plumbing and pipefitters union officials for groundbreaking

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, June 8, 2012 - Mayor Francis Slay and County Executive Charlie Dooley were joining one of the region’s more influential unions this morning for the groundbreaking of the new training facility campus in north St. Louis County.

Local 562 of the Plumbers & Pipefitters union is expanding its facilities at its campus/headquarters in north St. Louis County, at 12385 Larimore Road.

According to the union’s announcement, “The current facility will be expanded to include two new buildings comprised of 97,000 square feet. HBD Construction has been chosen to build the facility. The project will employ more than 300 union construction workers. The new facility will host union members from 67 counties throughout the eastern portion of Missouri for training at the highest level.”

Local 562 has more than 4,500 members who work in the plumbing and mechanical industry in 67 counties in eastern Missouri.

St. Louis County Council president Michael O'Mara is the former business manager of Local 562.
