The Pageant in St. Louis is among several concert venues that have canceled New Year's Eve shows.

St. Louis venues and clubs had big plans to help ring in the New Year. But now that the region is seeing a growing number of positive coronavirus cases as the omicron variant spreads, the Pageant, Delmar Hall, Off Broadway and some other venues have canceled or postponed events and performances.

Venue operators and promoters are taking precautions as health officials across the country are reporting a surge in coronavirus cases, many due to the omicron variant. In St. Louis, the number of people testing positive for the virus has more than tripled since last month, and the region's hospitals are admitting more people with COVID-19.

Canceled New Year’s Eve performances:

The Pale Divine at the Pageant — Rescheduled for Feb 4. Safety protocols including full vaccination or a negative test, and mask-wearing, will still be in effect when the group performs. “We don’t have a time frame for those policies to drop yet,” said Pat Hagin, a managing partner of the Pageant. “Some day they will drop, we just don’t know when yet.”

Maggie Rose at Delmar Hall — A new date for the concert hasn’t been determined yet, Hagin said.

On social media, Rose lamented having to postpone her St. Louis show.

“This variant is extremely contagious and although we have all gone through the hoops to make sure this is a safe celebration, we have to reschedule the last three dates of the 'Have A Seat Tour' to ensure everyone’s safety and peace of mind,” she wrote on Twitter.

Voodoo Phil Collins vs. Peter Gabriel Dance Party at Off Broadway There are “people in the performing party with COVID,” said Steve Pohlman, owner of Off Broadway. It’s not clear if the event will be rescheduled.
