Jerseyville, Ill. – Funeral services are today for a Jerseyville teen who died after being shot twice by police with a stun gun.
Seventeen-year-old Roger Holyfield died Sunday, a day after his confrontation with Jerseyville police. Officers say they found him walking with a Bible in one hand, a cordless telephone in the other while shouting "I want Jesus."
Police say the teen was shocked twice after he wouldn't acknowledge officers who approached him, continued yelling and became combative.
A pathologist says he's investigating whether Holyfield may have been in an agitated mental state where unusual strength is possible.
Holyfield's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Alexander-Gubser Funeral Home.
Illinois State Police are investigating, at the request of Jerseyville police.
