Washington – U.S. Senator Kit Bond will hold meetings across Missouri to prepare for next year's multi billion-dollar federal highway bill.
Bond plans to start Thursday in St. Joseph at a public meeting with state and local leaders.
He will assume a key chairmanship in the Senate, giving him control over the bill when Congress convenes next month.
About 90% of the state's transportation funding comes from the federal government. Congress provides the money through the highway bill, although Missouri officials decide how to spend most of the dollars.
