Join author Ashley Key at the Saint Louis Science Center’s Energy Stage for a dazzling northern lights science show!Come on Tuesday, December 30th at 10:00am for an Arctic-themed STEM adventure featuring children’s author Ashley Key and her poetic picture book Dash and the Lights in the Sky.
Ashley will kick off the morning with an engaging read-aloud of her book, then guide kids through a hands-on Foil Aurora Mask Craft where they decorate shimmering aurora-inspired masks to take home.
The program also includes a live science show on the Energy Stage, using an aurora projector and interactive demonstrations to show how Earth’s magnetic poles and solar energy create the northern lights. Kids will watch the science of light, color, and magnetism come alive right before their eyes!
Families are encouraged to explore the Saint Louis Science Center’s galleries and STEM exhibits after the program.

"Making Their Mark" brings together over eighty works by an intergenerational and international group of women artists represented in the San Francisco Bay Area–based Shah Garg Collection. Featuring a wide spectrum of artworks—including painting, sculpture, installation, textile, beadwork, and ceramics from the past eight decades—the exhibition emphasizes dialogues between artists who circumvent and break through conventions in art-making, embracing craft techniques, new technologies, conceptual inquiries, inventive methods, and uncommon materials. Artists in the exhibition include Andrea Bowers, Suzanne Jackson, Julie Mehretu, Howardina Pindell, Joan Mitchell, Lorna Simpson, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Sarah Sze, Kay WalkingStick, and Mary Weatherford, among many others.

Beginning on Saturday, November 22, and running through Sunday, January 11, this cherished holiday festival, brought to life by Gateway Arch Park Foundation, invites families to enjoy nearly seven weeks of winter wonder in the heart of the city.
Under the glow of thousands of dazzling lights and in the shadow of the Gateway Arch, Winterfest will return with fan-favorite activities like ice skating, cozy igloos, and marshmallow-toasting s’mores stations. Exciting holiday-themed programming will keep the whole family entertained, featuring the Winterfest 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run, enchanting appearances by princesses and superheroes, and a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration and fireworks show to ring in 2026.
