St. Louis Realtors is trying to promote Black homeownership through its Reimagining St. Louis plan. The plan suggests financial institutions should provide more first time homebuying programs, financial literacy classes and expand access to credit and down payment assistance programs.

Realtors and housing providers in St. Louis want city leaders to adopt home improvement programs from Pennsylvania to increase affordable housing.

Homeownership rates have increased for minorities over the past few years, according to the National Association of Realtors 2024 Snapshot of Race and Home Buying in America Report. Just 41% of Black Americans own homes in Missouri, which is below the national average.
