Democratic state Sen. Patty Lewis of Kansas City says a special session on congressional redistricting could backfire on Republicans in a number of ways.

The bill was prompted by legislation in some communities that bars landlords from denying leases to renters on the grounds that they receive housing assistance.

A bill that would improve health care access for Missouri women almost died in the House after some lawmakers conflated birth control legislation with abortion medication.

The Senate has already passed similar legislation, which is awaiting House debate.
