Capitol News Illinois surveyed one in four Illinois sheriffs about ICE cooperation. Here’s what they found.

The ICE 287(g) program is expanding in the Midwest, and immigration advocates say there’s not enough oversight. This month, the Department of Homeland Security announced new financial incentives that could boost local involvement even further.

The senator from Missouri said the large military installation with a long history of training soldiers and military law enforcement should be used to help ICE.

A federal grand jury indicted two St. Charles County residents Wednesday, accusing them of harboring people who are in the country illegally.

A Phelps County official said the $85 a night the federal government paid per detainee wasn’t covering the increased costs of transportation and additional paperwork.

Noem told reporters that Illinoisans should focus on the needs of “American citizens” and “make them the priority, because they’re the ones who invested in this country.”
