Jazz Unlimited for May 12, 2019, will present “Truth.” Truth is a hard word to define because it can mean many things. A statement is only true if it is backed up by verifiable facts and no fact can be left out. Otherwise, the word truth is just another way of expressing wishful thinking. We will present tunes with the word ‘truth” or “true” in them played by Count Basie, John Pizzarelli with Ray Kennedy, Paul Horn, Dave Grusin, Gerald Wilson, Benny Carter, Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Brooks, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Buddy Rich, Lucky Thompson, Les McCann, Marcus Roberts, Duke Ellington, Charles Toliver, the Astral Project, “Rahsaan’ Roland Kirk, Avery Sharpe, Jimmy Giuffre, Elvin Jones, Dave Brubeck, Keith Jarrett, our own Oliver Nelson, Dave Douglas and Albert Ayler.
The Slide Show has my photographs of some of the artists heard on this show.

Here is the Elvin Jones Jazz Machine in 1991 in Nice with our own Steve Kirby on bass. I do not recognize the pianist-he is not named.
