Astronomer and astrobiologist finds new meaning to life in memoir
Astrobiologist and astronomer Aomawa Shields has spent many years studying the universe beyond our solar system and researching newly discovered planets that have the potential to support life. Last month, she released her new memoir “Life on Other Planets: A Memoir of Finding My Way in the Universe.” Shields will be at the St. Louis Science Center on Monday to talk about her work and book.

Missouri leaders want federal government to pay St. Louisans harmed by nuclear contamination
Nuclear contamination in the St. Louis region dates back to the 1940s. Documents show leaders of Mallinckrodt Chemical Works, which processed uranium in St. Louis, knew of the contamination risks in 1949.

Missouri commission approves $1.4 billion in funding for I-70 expansion
Included in the budget passed by lawmakers this session and signed by Gov. Mike Parson in June was around $2.8 billion to expand I-70 to three lanes in each direction. On Wednesday, commissioners approved the first steps of acquiring that money.
