Law enforcement captured Jonathan O’Dell of Warsaw, Missouri, around 5 p.m. on Sunday night. O'Dell broke out of the Rolla jail later Friday night. His federal indictment alleges he planned to shoot immigrants crossing the border illegally.

Dred Scott's great-great-granddaughter erects new monument fitting of his legacy
Dred Scott, the enslaved man whose case made it to the U.S. Supreme Court, is getting a new memorial monument. The Dred Scott Heritage Foundation is dedicating the monument in his honor on Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.

Demolition of north county's Jamestown Mall, closed for 9 years, finally begins

SLU hospital nurses call for safer staffing levels, breaks during 24-hour strike
Dozens of nurses on Monday formed a picket line outside SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital on South Grand Boulevard to call for better staffing, guaranteed breaks and more comprehensive sick leave policies.

KDHX fires 10 more volunteer DJs as leaders try to assert control over station in turmoil
Station leaders dismissed 10 volunteer DJs on Friday and told another 12 they must complete a mediation process to stay on the air. The leaders say they are parting ways with volunteers who have resisted KDHX's enhanced focus on diversity.
