St. Louis – Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation will be back out at the Poplar Street Bridge this morning to do a thorough inspection of the aging structure after concrete fell onto the highway this weekend.
Police responded to reports late Sunday afternoon of debris falling from the ramp from the westbound bridge to southbound Interstate 55 onto the lanes of northbound 55 near the depressed section of Interstate 70. MoDOT closed the highway to inspect the bridge, and knocked off other pieces of loose concrete to prevent possible accidents.
Crews found no structural damage on Sunday, and there were no reports of any damage to cars from the falling debris.
