Stanton, Mo. – A 21-year-old Illinois man is dead after drowning in the Meramec River southwest of St. Louis.
The victim is Jess Lansaw of Greenfield, Ill. The incident happened Saturday night.
The Highway Patrol said Lansaw was tubing with friends when he began to swim. Friends saw him go under and resurface a couple of times before disappearing.
Divers recovered his body yesterday afternoon.
