St. Louis, MO – Republican candidate for Missouri Governor, Kenny Hulshof, is calling for tax relief for senior citizens.

In St. Louis Monday, Hulshof unveiled a proposal that would freeze property tax assessments for seniors who make $52-thousand a year or less. He says such a move would NOT harm schools districts who rely on property tax revenue.

"We know that those local school districts are going to continue to get the same level of taxation from those senior citizens. We're not going to see it go down but we also are not going to see them have to pay the bill with the assessed values bumping them up into a higher tax bracket," he said.

Hulshof says if elected he would also push for a tougher law against elder abuse. And he wants the Missouri Veteran's Commission to be an independent agency - not one under the authority of the state.
