St. Louis, MO. – Route 100 through Grafton will not re-open until at least Friday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation made the announcement today (Monday) saying heavy rain in the forecast makes a lingering mudslide too dangerous.
Joseph Monroe is I-DOT's operations engineer for District 8.
"We have two days of rain that are predicted to yield about three-quarters to an inch of rain on each day and that opens that much more soil, mud to break free and come loose," Monroe said.
The road was closed last week because of the mudslide that's threatening power lines and two properties.
A detour is in place along Illinois routes 3, 109, 16 and U.S. 67.
