St. Louis, MO. – Kirkwood Mayor Mike Swoboda will be released from the hospital Wednesday.
Swoboda was one of seven shot when Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton went on a shooting rampage earlier this month. Five people were killed before Thornton was shot dead by police.
The mayor sustained two gunshot wounds to the head. He's been at St. John's Mercy Medical Center for three weeks, but will be moved Wednesday to a rehabilitation hospital.
The rededication of the Kirkwood Council chambers will take place this Saturday.
The brief ceremony will be held on the steps of the city hall at 11 a.m., followed by the opening of the chambers to the public at 2 p.m.
