St. Louis – The St. Louis Circuit Attorney has issued an arrest warrarnt for attempted robbery and armed criminal action against Demeco Whitcomb, 18, of St. Louis.
Police say he was among of group of four or five men who tried to carjack an off-duty St. Louis police sergeant. The officer opened fire on the suspects Sunday night after they approached him in front of his home.
The sergeant was not injured. >Neighbors say the officer turned into his driveway, then another vehicle pulled in behind him. A man then jumped out, pointed a gun at the officer and demanded the sergeant's car.
The sergeant then fired at the suspect. Whitcomb was located later when subjects in a black Oldsmobile flagged down EMS workers to let them know that the suspect had been shot. He was transferred to the hospital and treated and released to police custody.
