Roxana, Ill. – A month-long contract dispute between the Roxana School District in the Metro East and its teachers will get help from a federal mediator.
A representative of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services hasn't set a date for the first meeting between the 137-member Roxana Education Association and the district.
The two sides have been collectively bargaining since April over a new contract. They disagree over language in the proposed accord about leave time and planning time.
The first day of school is August 22nd, two days after the teachers are to report.
