St. Louis, MO – More than 65,000 people turned out in downtown St. Louis on Saturday to support research to defeat breast cancer.

It was a record for the St. Louis version of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Runners also raised more than $2.5 million for breast cancer research and education. More than 3,500 cancer survivors were also among the runners.

The St. Louis Susan G. Komen race is one of more than 100 across the country this year. In nine years, the St. Louis affiliate has provided about $10 million to area breast cancer programs.
