St. Louis – A group of civil rights organizations is asking the State Attorney General to stop a state takeover of the St. Louis Public Schools.
The International Urban Institute, the Teachers Union and the Organization for Black Struggle sent a letter to Attorney General Jay Nixon Friday.
The groups are protesting actions they say "nullify" their right to cast votes in the upcoming school board elections on April third.
They're also asking Nixon to investigate organizations who may have illegally conspired to violate citizen voting rights.
Nixon's office would not comment on the letter before speaking with the State Board of Education.
