Jefferson City, MO – Over a dozen suspected illegal aliens were detained last night (Tue) in Jefferson City, and the company that employed them has had its state contract revoked.
Sam's Janitorial Service is suspected of having dozens of illegal immigrants on its payrolls. The company provided janitorial services for several state buildings in Jefferson City, but not for the State Capitol building itself.
Governor Matt Blunt signed an executive order directing every state agency in Missouri to audit their contractors.
"Any contractor found employing people outside the bounds of federal employment regulations will be suspended, or permanently barred from working in Missouri," he said Tuesday night.
Federal immigration authorities took the suspected illegal immigrants into custody at a group meeting of the janitorial company's employees. Those found to be illegal were transported to a federal holding facility in Kansas City.
