St. Louis, MO – Officials say they expect more power outages today (Monday) as electrical lines snap under the weight of ice and from falling tree limbs.
The Missouri Emergency Management office says at least 330,000 customers were without power in the state this morning, mostly in southwest Missouri. About 85,000 are out in the St. Louis area, mostly in St. Charles and western St. Louis Counties.
Governor Matt Blunt will be in Springfield and St. Charles today (Monday) to give an update on the storm response.
Wentzville City Hall, the St. Peters RecPlex, and the Harvester Christian Church were among the buildings being used as shelters for those without power this weekend.
A state of emergency also remains in effect; six deaths in Missouri are blamed on the storm; and more than 300 Missouri National Guard troops are helping check on residents and clear debris.
