St. Louis, MO – Tonight's (Monday's) meeting of the St. Charles County Council will be the last one Joe Ortwerth ever attends as Executive.

Ortwerth did not seek re-election this year. A top aide in his office, Steve Ehlmann, did run and win the seat; he will take office with the New Year.

Ortwerth has served for 12 years and has so far been the only elected Executive in county history.

The Council tonight is also expected to pass next year's budget for St. Charles County government.

Ortwerth will take a new job with the national conservative group Focus on the Family and also continue to run a church he founded last year, called Highway of Holiness Church.
