Poll watchers to monitor elections in Missouri

By Maria Hickey, KWMU

St. Louis – A coalition of groups will have poll watchers out Tuesday as part of the Advancement Project's Voter Protection Initiative.

Missouri statewide coordinator Denise Lieberman said about 150 volunteers will be election sites in St. Louis, and she says they'll be easy to find.

"If you have any questions at all, whatsoever, look for our monitors," Lieberman said. "They're going to be in neon vests that say 'You have the right to vote. Ask me.' These are non-partisan monitors. We have no agenda other than helping voters understand their rights and exercise their rights."

Lieberman said the monitors will be on the look-out for any voter intimidation and to help if there's confusion over what identification voters need.

She said voters can also call 1-866-OUR-VOTE with questions regarding their voting rights.
