St. Louis – In the five years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, political leaders have talked about the need to improve emergency response systems especially on the state and local level.
Tuesday in St. Louis, officials from around the country discussed ways to improve communications among first responders, from better command structures to more reliable two-way radios.
KWMU's Matt Sepic spoke with one of those officials, Missouri Homeland Security Coordinator Paul Fennewald.
Fennewald says interoperability should be the goal of any emergency response plan.
