St. Louis, MO. – A Mo-Dot worker is recovering after his truck was hit this morning on Interstate 270.
Authorities say a woman may have been driving too fast when her car hit the truck, then a semi and another car.
The driver-Thialiaan Scarlett-Lloyd-was seriously injured. The worker suffered minor injuries.
MoDOT spokesman Chris Sutton says the accident happened while a construction crew was setting up a work zone.
"A vehicle struck a TMA, which is a piece of equipment which is located behind a lane closure to protect our crew and drivers from entering into a work zone," Sutton said.
Last week a new Missouri law went into effect that increases the penalties for reckless driving in construction areas.
Injuring or killing a highway worker could result in a $10,000 fine and the loss of driving privileges.
However there's no word yet if the driver has been charged.
