St. Louis, MO – For years, a St. Louis County man kept a rare treasure. In Willis Goldschmidt's basement lay a small collection of silent films.
Recently, his son learned that two of them are the only known copies in existence.
The 77-year-old films are the work of Australian director J-P McGowan. Most Americans don't know his name.
But as KWMU's Kevin Lavery reports, McGowan was a trailblazer who helped build the modern-day action thriller.
To learn more about McGowan, tune in to KETC-Channel 9 at 7:00 p.m. Monday for "Living St. Louis."
