St. Louis, MO – A number of charities in St. Louis are asking for donations to help offset the cost of helping address the power outage that continues today (Wed.) for some 88,000 customers.
The Salvation Army, for example, estimates it has so far spent $200,000 in providing shelter, meals and water. The Army estimates it has helped more than 12,000 people in the region in the past week.
While the Salvation Army is looking for monetary donations (see below for information), other groups that distribute free food are asking for both cash and food donations.
Officials with Operation Food Search add that summer is a traditionally slow time for donations, anyway, and the power outage has only worsened the problem.
