Jefferson City, MO – A trial date has been set for a lawsuit challenging the way Missouri funds public schools.
More than 250 school districts are in involved in the case. They say the state does not spend enough money on public schools and when it does, the money is unfairly distributed.
State legislators overhauled the public school funding last year and contend that it should answer the districts' concerns and resolve the need for the lawsuit. Some districts have dropped out, but most say both the old and the new funding plans have problems.
The trial will begin January third, three years after the suit was filed.
