Kansas City, MO – Todd Graves is resigning as western Missouri's federal prosecutor. He made the announcement this morning (Friday) in Kansas City.
The 40-year-old Republican, in a statement, did not say why he's resigning.
He's the brother of Missouri Congressman Sam Graves and took office in September, 2001 as an appointee of President Bush.
Graves reportedly wants to return to private law practice and wants to become more active politically. He adds, though, he's undecided on whether to seek elected office anytime soon.
Before being named U.S. Attorney, Graves was Platte County's prosecutor. He's made prosecution of child abuse and child pornography a priority in his office. Death penalty cases have also become more frequent than under previous U.S. attorneys in the district.
